Seth grew up at the iconic bakery founded by his father, William Greenberg Jr. Desserts, known to many a New Yorker for decades as the go-to place for Schnecken (cinnamon rolls), classic cookies, brownies, and absolutely everyone’s birthday cake.
After working with his father for twenty-five years, buying the family business, and eventually selling it, he realized one day while sitting in a finance office…"who am I kidding? I’m a baker.”
Seth Greenberg’s Just Desserts flagship location is now open at 1887 Palmer Avenue, Larchmont, NY.
Seth Greenberg has been featured in The New York Times, The Daily News, and the American Craft Museum. His ”icing on the cake” highlights include baking President Bill Clinton’s 50th birthday cake, assembled live on the Today Show, and baking Schnecken with Martha Stewart live on air. "I've gotten some press over the years, it's true, but the baking is why people come here."
It was the honor of a lifetime to bake President Clinton's 50th birthday cake while he was in office.
It was also the first time I've ever had to decorate a cake with news cameras in my face. It was a little stressful but also very exciting.
We assembled the tiers live on the plaza for the Today Show.
If you look closely you can see that the names of each state are written in the stripes, and the number 50 represents each star.
And there I am, the guy in the ridiculous tall white hat standing near Hillary Clinton, presenting the American flag cake to the first family.
My children 7 and 9 and the time, had to deal with the fact that they were both proud of, yet still embarrassed by their father.
President Clinton sent me a signed photo.
The letter I received from Ann Stock, White House Social Secretary, made it all worthwhile.
Martha was making cocktails with the actor Adrian Brody in the segment just before mine. The cap came off at the top of the shake and she was covered in Cranberry Cosmopolitan. Then we burnt the Schnecken. That's live television!
"My second guest was Seth Greenberg, a wonderful New York baker and entrepreneur who came to share his most fabulous recipe for sticky buns. I just LOVE sticky buns and his are a sensation!" Martha Stewart blog
Season 5, Episode 5, "Signal 30"
Originally aired on April 15, 2012 and features the most important scene in the entire series. Don Draper bringing William Greenberg brownies from NYC to colleagues who made the poor choice of moving to Connecticut.
I was featured in the Chemical Bank Small Business Hall of Fame. This meant photo shoots, and a huge ad campaign that lasted until the people of NYC were tired of seeing my face on the sides of busses.
Here I am besides Tom Seaver, the greatest Met of all time. My staff seen in the background were huge Mets fans and Tom posed for pictures with everyone.
